Cocktail Soiree

Parties are in full swing at this time of year. I threw my own party a couple weeks back, the cocktail kind. I played hostess for the night, while my guests (family) – about 22 of them, wined and dined in my home.

I set the mood by lighting tons of candles throughout the main floor. I even found gold glitter tea lights. So much love! The decor was Christmas inspired.

My theme for the night was “An Enchanted Christmas”. The guests arrived all dressed up. I was going for a pretty, sparkly and classy venue. Everyone was greeted at the door with my Christmas cocktail, a blend of pomegranate juice, sparkling water & vodka.

I was smart to open the windows ahead of time. I knew the oven would be on all night and that it would get too warm. Food was being served over several hours. The Angels were awesome. They were my “server girls”. That’s what they refer to themselves as:) I used my charger plates as platters for serving. They are light-weight and not breakable. Win-win.

We had a ton of food. Everyone brought a few dishes and I kept rotating through them. The food was flowing. I figure everyone ate about 6-8 bites per hour. No one left feeling hungry, that’s for sure.

Chairs were clustered around as guests mingled. I was exhausted by the end of the night but it was well worth it. The guests had a great time. Everyone left with a little “take-away” care package and big smiles.

Cocktail parties are a lot fun but you need to plan ahead.

What kind of parties have you been attending?
