So I’m a little late to get on the Friday Night Lights bandwagon but at least I’m on it. I L.O.V.E this show. I have to thank Netflix. I’ve been able to catch up on season after season of programming that I ordinarily wouldn’t watch.
I will be honest in saying that it took me 3 episodes to fall for Friday Night Lights. It has nothing to do with the storyline. I had to adjust to the way the show is filmed. It’s like they use handheld cameras. My eyes had to adjust before I could really dig it.
Let’s just say they’ve adjusted and are in LOVE with Matt Saracen (aka Zach Gilford). OMG – he’s my new boyfriend. His character is so unbelievably sweet, almost too sweet, I just want to eat him up. I’ve officially added him to my boyfriend list.
The show is about students in high school and their families. The overall theme or link between characters is football. It is what marries the storyline together. Trust me when I say you don’t have to like football to enjoy this show.
The characters are flawed, emotional and complex. The show is heartfelt and sincere. I just can’t gush enough about it.
What I really like is that (even though I’m not in high school anymore) the stories are believable, some even relatable. This show is no 90210. It’s more down to earth and real.
Apologies if you already finished all the seasons. As I write this, the Husband and I are almost done season 2. We have 3 more to go after that. NOTE: The show is no longer on the air. You will have to rent it or catch it on Netflix.
Can’t wait to get our Friday Night Lights-athon on. The questions is, will you be watching?
PS – Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating in the US today.
