Full Disclosure

Today’s post is full disclosure about my blog. I’ve been getting some funny questions from friends asking me what time I wake up in the morning to upload an entry. I always get a good laugh out of this. They must think I don’t sleep.

So here goes…

I blog Monday to Friday. I schedule blogs 1 week in advance. So I’ve already planned next week’s posts. I schedule them to go out at 8 in the morning. For some reason, my blog site (WordPress) is set to a European timezone. Hence the reason my posts get posted early. I haven’t really bothered to figure out how to change that. I’m sure it’s not hard, it just hasn’t been a high priority.

The reason for scheduling posts in advance is because of time. I have two kids demanding lots from me on an hourly basis (The Husband too :)) So this makes my life easier. It helps to streamline things. Plus, I write / jot notes down as I think of blog ideas. Sometimes I stare at the computer screen for half an hour trying to think of something witty to say. Am I witty? I’d like to think I am.

Surprisingly, I have been blogging for over a year now. I can hardly believe it. I started with The Umi Family blog that chronicled our summer in France last year. I wrote everyday for that blog. I have almost 100 entries written. Crazy stuff!

When I came back from France I still loved blogging so I created Simply Vanessa. To date I have just over 200 posts written. I’m coming up on my ONE YEAR blog anniversary. This leads me to my next point.

Where do I see this blog going? I would love to make this a part time job (note to self: must start reading how up on how to build a blog business). Angel # 2 has one more year of school half-day and then both my girls will be gone all day. I need something more than my fitness classes.

I love the idea of working part-time on multiple projects that I’m passionate about (read: Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris and you will understand).

I would classify my blog as a lifestyle blog. Would you agree? I talk about my family, fashion, beauty projects, home renovations, etc… Anything that really pops in my little head.

Some people have told me they LOVE my Look of the Week posts. Do I take my blog and dedicate it to fashion only. Do I continue to write product reviews?

I’m happy to report that the number of people reading my blog keeps growing. I would like to continue with this trend. That’s why I’m asking you what YOU WANT TO SEE on the blog.

Do I continue as I have been? Do you enjoy hearing silly stories about my life? If so, I will keep on keepin’ on. Otherwise, depending on the responses I get, I may shift directions.

That said, a lot of people leave comments on Facebook in response to some blog entries. I have my Twitter account (Simplyvanessa_) feeding into Facebook so both are updated simultaneously. I just wanted to mention that you don’t need to be afraid of commenting directly on the blog. You can leave only your first name (or porn name). You also don’t have to leave a “real” email address. Should you want to leave your email address – I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES IT. I would never share it with anyone.

I’ve learned so much from reading about other bloggers and their experiences. I follow far too many blogs. But I really, really love it.

One final question – should I revamp the look of my blog (as in layout)? I think it’s cute and playful. Do you think it’s juvenile? Should I be adding a level of sophistication to it? I’d like to think I’m a sophisticated gal – sometimes childish.

Don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Simply Yours,

I think you should continue the blog for sure. I also think you would make a great stylist…helping people revamp their wardrobe on a budget because you have great style on a great budget. Most stylists will shop at very expensive stores. What do you think?

So happy you commented on the blog, Sarah. I think you are being super sweet. I don’t know if I’d have the confidence to shop for people. I can definitely keep things within budget – I’m just not that talented :) I’d shop with you anytime though for fun!

Love it all. The “look of the week” is something that I look forward to each week. I have loved following the adventures of your family. Would you ever consider adding some fitness posts?

Great idea. I will definitely add some fitness flare. Thanks! You’ve helped inspire some ideas…stay tuned!

Don’t change the look, I love it! I agree with Sarah I love your funny stories, remember my email about bathing suit shopping and how hard you laughed? You definately have some of those moments, love hearing about it!
You do have a great eye for cheap and chic, I’m often surprized by all your good finds, and I’d like to think of myself as a self professed bargin finder!
