Weeds is a half-hour comedy (dark comedy) about a family who sells marijuana (or wacky-tabacy as my mother calls it) to support themselves. The family gets more and more entangled in the world of crime and drugs with every season that passes.
Mary-Louise Parker is brilliant as Nancy Botwin. She’s such a bad mother – but yet – she manages to charm the audience. It’s really a very funny show. You have to laugh at the unbelievability of it all.
Be prepared, the show can be graphic. Sometimes I shake my head at the scenes. Sometimes I even blush at what I’m watching. There’s strong language and there is violence. Also, every opening title sequence is different. I like it. It’s fun to try and figure out how it relates to the episode.
Truth be told, all the above, make the show great. The Husband would say it’s a winning combination. Although – he doesn’t watch it, I know he would love it.
If you can suspend disbelief for a half an hour a week, the show is worth the watch. Don’t take it seriously – laugh! It’s good for you!!
