Florida Recap

Florida rocked! A great time was had by all. We left before the start of March Break to beat the rush and save $ on plane tickets. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale first to spend a few days with my in-laws. The Husband and I are happy they love Deerfield Beach so much. They seem very settled there. They look so refreshed and healthy. Their condo is cozy and perfect for two.

We spent one afternoon at a really cool park in Boca Raton. I like it there – very rich. The kids loved playing at the park. We had them running a ton to poop them out.

Angel # 1 loved seeing her grandparents. But I think she especially loved seeing this duck sitting on what we thought were her eggs. We had to stop and look every time we went up the stairs. I’m sure the duck thought we were the quacks :)

After our visit with the in-laws, we drove to Ft Myers to visit my parents. They are staying in Cape Coral. We love their city. So cute. My mom wasn’t kiddin’ when she said there is ample shopping to do in the area.

One day was spent at Miromar Shopping Outlet. There are tons of designer stores and sales a plenty. I was really good that day. I only came home with shorts for the Husband. They were from Guess and on sale. They also look stellar on him. I’m loving how he’s dressing these days – such a hottie!

My parents also had some of their close friends (2 couples) join us for lunch one day. My brother and his girlfriend were also in town. We spent a lot of time drinking, laughing and eating.

The Angels spent most of the time in the water. Or should I say, UNDER the water. They both swim like fish. Angel # 1 would be perfect for synchro. She swam the entire length of the pool underwater, turned around at the other end and swam a 1/3 of the way back. UNBELIEVABLE breath control.

Angel # 2 was also following closely in her sisters footsteps. She was swimming the length of the pool (above water) by the end of our visit. The child is incredibly fearless. Good and bad!!

In both Ft Lauderdale and Ft Myers, we visited the beach. I loved the colour of the water more in Ft Lauderdale – very aqua but very big waves. The water in Ft Myers (Gulf of Mexico) is much darker because of the colour of the sand. The beach was incredible – the sand felt like flour under your toes…so soft. The best part though about Ft Myers beach was the marine life. We saw 2 DOLPHINS. One swam past a bunch of swimmers near the shore. So close – so COOL. Later that morning we spotted another dolphin further out in the water near a boat. Again, awesome.

The beach town in Ft Myers reminds me of Wasaga Beach in Canada. Lots of cool shops, and restaurants. Lots of young and trendy people. We had fun. We also went out to eat at a great restaurant that day called Nervous Nellies. SO GOOD. The Husband and I shared a gi-normous lobster sandwich. We also sampled some alligator tail for the first time. Tastes like chicken. So much food. Delicious.

I spent some time shopping at Target. I love TARGET. Like, I really LOVE Target. I found some great clothing in Ft Myers…super trendy and affordable. I also found some great cosmetics in Ft Lauderdale. I’m a happy girl.

The Husband spent some time in Total Wine. The best liquor/beer store in Florida. I can’t get over how cheap alcohol is the USA. AWESOMENESS!!

We had a lovely visit with everyone! The weather started out rocky at first but just got better and better as the days went on. The Angels came home tanned, happy and TIRED. They’ve been sleeping in like crazy making up for lost sleep. This = happy parents.

Come back tomorrow and I’ll share some of my Florida finds.
