I hope you all had a wonderful New Years celebration. We sure did. We headed to Petawawa with friends for the weekend. Do you know how far Petawawa is from Toronto? Freakin’ far. It felt like we were driving to the end of the earth or the North Pole. The weather was a disaster driving up – freezing rain, snow covered roads. I’m so happy we made it there in one piece. The drive home was so much better!
Lots of snow up north – LOTS. There’s basically none in the city (which is much appreciated btw) but up there, it’s a winter wonderland.
The kids had a blast. All SEVEN of them. They played in the snow and went tobogganing (so did the adults). They also enjoyed bouncing in the bouncy castle (so did the adults). One of our friends works in the Canadian Military. He brought us all to the base for a tour. What an eye opening experience for everyone. The military provides such an essential service. We should never take for granted how hard they work to protect this country. I’ve attached a couple of pics – but none of the indoor (secret mission stuff) we got to see for obvious reasons.
We partied hard with friends after the kids went to bed. We did as adults do, play Wii and drink copious amounts of alcohol. We played this awesome dance game. I was peeing my pants laughing at everyone dancing. More fun watching the peeps than the TV screen. Oh the highlarity. We also consumed far TOO MUCH FOOD! (I stocked up on treats at the Bulk Barn – which is awesome – before we left.) I think I’m officially done eating for a while.
Such a fun time had by all!
Now all I have to do is remember the new year. I’m sure I will forget and continue to reference 2011 for a quite a while. I do this without fail at the beginning of every new year.
