The 70 Day Challenge

This is after about 8 weeks in France.

Staying in France for 10 weeks this summer has done a number on my body. I did very little exercise while I was away. I got very used to the lazy lifestyle in the South. I ate so much bread, cheese and meat – I can’t even begin to calorie count. I also drank copious amounts of wine and champagne. It was truly wonderful!

Now that I’m back in Toronto, I have to refocus and get myself back in tip-top shape. There are so many fad diets and workout plans out there. Given that we were away for a total of 70 days, I created my own plan. I call it “The 70 day challenge”. I figure it took me 70 days to gain the excess weight – I’m giving myself 70 days to take it back off. Sounds reasonable, non?

I don’t believe in weighing in on a scale. I hate number crunching. I judge my weight based on how the clothes fit. Sometimes I even try to convince myself that the dryer shrunk my clothing :) Unfortunately, this is not the case. I officially have a muffin top – ugh!!

The Husband, on the other hand, loves weighing in on a scale. He is a number cruncher. He weighed me the other day (I had my eyes closed). He is monitoring the numbers on my behalf. He wanted to take pictures to chronicle the body shape differences. I’m still not sure how I feel about that yet.

So here goes the workout plan:

Eating Sensibly – less caloric intake, the right carbohydrates, lots of fruits / veggies
Limited Alcohol Consumption – only on weekends and moderated
Water – lots and lots of water
Exercise – 5 days a week at the gym (combination of cardio, yoga & strength training)

I think this is the perfect plan to get my body back in pre-France shape. Follow me along. You be the judge.

Simply Yours,

My goodness, you look amazing (!) but I know when you don’t feel at your best it can be frustrating. Good luck with your workout plan. I have to say, I like the sensibility of it.

Thanks! I definitely don’t feel at my best – especially when my waste-line bleeds over my pants. I feel like I need to walk around holding my breath all the time. Give me 70 days – I will post an updated pic then!
